The Logo of the British Mexican Society Image of Mexico - the British Mexican Society

When the British Mexican Society raises money for Mexican charities we try to find small charities for whom our relatively modest donations will make a real difference.

Charities which have received donations from us during the past few months include:

New Life Mexico

A charity in Puerto Vallarta which supports children and young people who have been physically, sexually or emotionally abused.

The charity takes children, many of whom have been found living on the streets by the police, from primary school age and helps them for as long as needed.

Fundación Amistad Britanico-Mexicana

Fundación Amistad Britanico-Mexicana ('Amistad') was formed immediately following the 1985 earthquake in Mexico City. It now provides support to schools and healthcare institutions following damage caused by any form of natural disaster. It is now very active in raising funds in the aftermath of the September 2013 floods. The British Mexican Society is working together with Amistad to raise money for the Amistad Flood Disaster Relief Fund.

Reserva de la Biosfera de la Sierra Gorda

This extensive biosphere reserve in one of the most exciting regions of the Mexican Sierra was formed in 1997 to protect the exceptional richness of animal species and ecosystems.

It embraces the Grupo Ecologico Sierra Gorda which trains local people to carry out recycling, reforestation and other environmental education tasks.

With the help of one of the BMS members it was possible to make a donation to this charity which they used to purchase a semen storage vessel which is essential to a project to improve the genetic strains of cattle in the reserve.
