Join us for a discussion of the iconic Mexican novel Pedro Páramo, exploring its cultural significance and literary influence with writer and critic Fernando Sdrigotti, joined by Rodrigo Prieto, director of the recent Netflix adaptation.
Fernando Sdrigotti is an Argentine writer and cultural critic. He is the author of several books and pamphlets, including Shitstorm (Open Pen, 2018), Grey Tropic (Dostoyevsky Wannabe, 2019), Jolts (Influx Press, 2020), We Are But Nothing (Rough Trade Books, 2023), and A Foreign Country Is the Past (Influx Press, 2025). He teaches Spanish and Latin American film and literature at Birkbeck, University of London
Rodrigo Prieto is an Academy Award–nominated Mexican cinematographer and film director, known for his collaborations with Martin Scorsese (The Irishman, Killers of the Flower Moon), Alejandro González Iñárritu (Amores Perros, Babel), and Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain). In 2024, Prieto made his directorial debut with Netflix’s adaptation of Pedro Páramo, bringing Juan Rulfo’s masterpiece to the screen for a global audience.
