Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology Cambridge
Visit to Cambridge to see the Mayan plaster casts held in the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, organised by Dr Elizabeth Baquedano. Further details to follow.
The plaster casts in Cambridge’s Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology are 19th century reproductions of monumental Maya stone sculptures and stelae, created by the archaeologist Alfred Maudslay from casts taken at ancient sites such as Yaxchilán and Quiriguá. They preserve detailed imagery and inscriptions from Maya monuments, many of which have since deteriorated, and remain an important resource for the study of Maya archaeology and writing.
