  • Our next BMS event will be a talk from the author, Nicolás Medina Mora, on his new book América del Norte.

(Even though the title is in Spanish the book is in English). This takes place via Zoom on Thursday 5 December at 6pm UK time (register via Eventbrite). See attached flyer.   • One of the favourite Day of the Dead events in London is the Festival at Hackney Bridge on 2 and 3 November.

This has both free and ticketed sections. You can expect Culture, live music, Mexican street market, children & adults’ workshops, art, crafts, design, face painting, dance and many other great surprises. For more details see the attached flyer. The full programme will be announced soon and we shall include it in future newsletters.

  • On 1 and 2 November there will be Lucha Libre at York Hall in London. For more details and to book tickets go to https://www.luchalibreworld.com. The spectacle will be accompanied by Mexican food and music.
  • On 21 and 22 November there will be the First Mexico-UK Interdisciplinary Congress celebrating 200 years of Collaboration for Academic Excellence. For more details and to submit a proposal for a talk see the attached flyer.
  • The Amalgam Academy are hosting an online course entitled A Brief History of Art from Latin America during the 20th Century.

This takes place over 7 sessions. The version in English starts on 14 October and the version in Spanish on 16 October, both at 7.30pm. For details see Amalgama Academy.

  • The Anglo Latin American Foundation, ALAF, of which BMS is a member and keen supporter, is holding a charity concert on Friday 18 October in the Bolivar Hall, London W1T 5DL.

This concert, entitled From Fields of Gold to Andalucía, will raise much needed funds for children’s charities across Latin America. Please see the attached flyer for more details. To buy tickets go to Eventbrite.
