!Viva México! Popular Arts and Culture (5 July – 14 September)

This exuberant and wide-ranging exhibition of Mexican folk art is drawn from the collection of curator Chloë Sayer. Arts and crafts are an essential part of daily and ceremonial life in modern Mexico and this exhibition pays homage to the countless artists whose creativity gives Mexican culture its unique character and visual power. The makers featured draw on techniques and materials from European, Aztec and Mayan art to create a modern response to ancient traditions.

The exhibition features clothing and domestic textiles, intricately woven and embroidered, shimmering silver jewellery, painted gourds, fine pottery and imaginative toys.
