Charitable Giving

The British Mexican Society takes its charitable status seriously and it is our mission to make a difference to the people of Mexico. Our strategy is to raise funds for small charities in Mexico so that the relatively modest amounts, normally between £1,000 and £3,500, that we are able to contribute to any one project make a big impact.

Our fundraising efforts and our members’ contributions improve many people’s lives, both young and old, and create a real and vital connection between the BMS and Mexico.

If you want to help make a difference, for example by bringing clean drinking water to children, helping them learn a trade or improving their language skills, then making a donation is quick and simple.

Application for Funding Process

If you are a registered charity or community group in Mexico looking for funding we accept applications to be considered between 1stNovember and 31stDecember each year.  Applications are not accepted outside this period.

The BMS Charity Sub-Committee will review all applications in January for funding recommendations to the Trustees by mid-February.   Funds will be distributed in March & April each year.

The BMS Application for Funding form needs to be completed in order to be considered, together with the requested financial information.

  • Applications for funding should be in Sterling / British Pounds, not Mexican Pesos as we cannot manage currency fluctuations.
  • All charities/projects need to have been visited by a BMS Council Member or Charity Committee Member prior to funds being released.
  • Charity/Projects receiving funding will be asked for (i) information about the charity to post on the BMS website (ii) a project report and photos of how funds were used.

You can download the Application for Funding form here: Application For Funding BMS. Please send the completed form to: chairman@britishmexicansociety.org.uk
